hey what if this wasn’t the first time Jay’s run into potential academic trouble at Auradon Prep??
“Jay, can you stay back for a moment? I just want to ask you a question about your test.”
Miss Lacey Harvey’s most troublesome student pulls up short, so quickly that he overcorrects and has to stick one booted foot out in an exaggerated motion to counterbalance himself. She hears him murmur something to one of his buddies, another boy from one of the sports teams, wearing a matching jacket. Lacey doesn’t often pay attention to what her students are wearing, but she’s only teaches one of the students from the Isle of the Lost this semester, and it was quite a change the first day that he showed up in a blue and gold school varsity jacket instead of his typical black and red leather.
Lacey waits. It’s no trouble to let her students say goodbye to their friends before she pulls them aside for a little history come-to-god moment.
Sure enough, Jay turns around a moment later.
“You wanted to see me, miss?”
Ah.
“Yes.” Lacey says firmly. “You’ll get the test back, don’t worry about that. I just need you to walk me through what I’m seeing here first.”
Jay leans down to look at the test Lacey has laid out on the desk in front of her. He’s a good looking boy, and he knows it, so she wishes she could be surprised when he looks up at her through those dark lashes with a proud little smile. “I crushed it, yeah?”
She takes in a deep breath. Time to crush the academic dreams of a boy who’s never been to a prep school before, who by all accounts is probably doing his best given the circumstances, and who still, despite all the extenuating circumstances working against him, goes out of his way to be a pain in her ass every class period. “Well, you could say that. Your answers on the multiple choice section were good, you did well there, but… I have to ask. It looks like you missed this section here, where you were supposed to answer some questions about the passage.”
“What, no way. Miss, that’s bull–” he catches himself, audibly swallowing the second half of his words. “--crap. It’s bullcrap, miss. I answered the hell out of this test.”
Lacey looks up into the honest, open face of her student. All of the boys in her late morning section are so tall this year, she’s constantly looking up at them when they stand by her desk. The thought strikes her that she really ought to get a stepstool, and save her neck the trouble.
She files the idea away for later. Later, when she doesn’t have a student in front of her. And not just any student, but one that’s been giving her trouble since the start of the year. The trouble, you see, with teaching teenagers is that they’re quick to spin you a tale the moment they think they might be in trouble. Lacey’s heard a lot of teenagers put on the song and dance for her, and if this one is lying, then he’s doing a very good job of it.
A little intimidation will usually break the weak ones.
“You have to understand that we take academic integrity very seriously here at Auradon Prep,” Lacey explains, putting on her best stern, spectacle-wearing teacher expression. “I expect each and every one of my students to bring their best into my classroom. If you have anything to tell me about your test, I would prefer to settle this outside of the honor board. I’m sure you would prefer the same.”
Lacey watches
Jay furrows his face, squinting down at the test. “Miss, I just missed the page. It must have been stuck together or something. I’ll redo it for you.”
Right.
No.
“Jay, this is the problem with your tests. You are constantly skipping sections and missing questions. If I didn’t know better, I would think that you’re just skipping over all the questions that you don’t want to answer.”
He snaps his mouth down into a hard line. “Miss, it was a mistake, I promise.”
“I want to believe you,” Lacey says slowly, allowing her student a chance to stop digging the hole he’s created even deeper. “But—“
Jay’s face goes hard, and then evens out into a tremulous version of his usual cocky smile. “But you don’t trust villains. I get it.”
“No, it’s not like that,” Lacey hurries to reassure him. “It’s just that I’ve seen a pattern on your tests, and I wanted to address it before the problem gets out of hand, that’s all.”
“But I’m the only one here.”
“I prefer not to humiliate students in front of their peers,” she snaps, before she can think better of herself. “If you would prefer that I do otherwise, please, tell me, and I would be happy to waste valuable class time that your peers could spend learning on disciplining you instead.”
The boy in front of her drops his head. “Go for it. Discipline me.”
No.
She—
No.
This isn’t how it’s supposed to go.
Villains, even the young ones, have a way of getting under your skin.
“I will not.” Lacey says calmly, taking a moment to catch her breath. “Punish you for missing a question. I am here to teach you, not to dole out punishment for what you claim was an honest mistake. I’m giving you an extra study hall. Come to the study room after dinner tonight, and I’ll have one of my tutors there to help you go over the questions you’ve missed.”
Jay straightens up, and it’s like the past few moments never happened, and he never dropped the cocky, confident face of the boy who roughhouses with his teammates in the back of her classroom. “I have a game.”
“After that.” Lacey assures him. “The extra study hall isn’t a punishment. I am here to give you a learning opportunity. Sports games end at what, seven pm?”
He grins. “Would you believe me if I said eight?”
Lacey may be a history teacher, but she isn’t stupid. “I would not. Stay here while I write out your tutoring slip, and I’ll have a TA meet you in the western study room at seven thirty.”
He shrugs, bright and easy. “Worth a shot. I’ll learn more with a cute girl as a tutor.”
Lacey crosses Jane Fey off her list of potential TA students. “You will not.”
“Will so.”
“Absolutely not, and if you continue along this line, I’ll tutor you myself.”
He flashes her a look that’s not exactly an assessment, but it does linger on her entirely too long for comfort. “You won’t find me complaining about that, Miss.”
Lacey shrugs back a shiver. The little villains go out of their way to behave unnervingly, she knows this, and she won’t allow it to get under her skin this time. “Take this,” she commends, holding out the study slip. “And get out of my classroom before you’re late for next period.”
He does.
Lacey lets out a breath she hasn’t consciously been holding once the door clicks shut. Villains, even little ones, aren’t a handful that she’s overjoyed to need to continue dealing with.
With that thought in mind, she opens her school email account.
“Dear Fairy Godmother,” Lacey whispers to herself as she types. “I am writing to inform you of an incident occurring today, which pertains to the trial run of the four children from the isle of the lost….”
Yes.
She’ll keep the higher-ups well informed of this incident. It’s her duty as a teacher, nothing more, to keep her administration informed of how the new students are settling in.
And if she recommends that some students in particular may not be suited for a preparatory environment, well, that’s just her opinion as an educated member of the educational staff. No more, no less. She’d like to see every student succeed in the classroom, but she’s made the same recommendation for a few royal children who couldn’t keep up with their academics, and those few were seen very tidily off to lower-ranked classrooms, and eventually their home kingdom’s local colleges, framed as a very humble move, of course, to support local educational institutions within their home kingdoms. An emphasis on their humility and loyalty to their kingdoms of birth.
She’d like to see each and every one of her students succeed. Naturally.
She’s just setting up a few backup plans.
#my fic#descendants#descendants fic#I’m not setting this teacher up as a villain#she’s just sick of sports boys disrupting her class#and she’s maybe got some biases to work through about villains

Since Descendants is apparently throwing any and all continuity out of the window- Did Frollo attend Merlin Academy?
Worse yet - did Quasimodo?
Cos in my humble opinion, having to deal with both Judge Frollo and Lady Tremaine would destroy any teacher. No wonder Merlin is so out of it.

I though 'hey, this cinderella [from descendants rise of red] is different from brandy's version, but she's pretty opinionated, maybe i'll like her!' cut to five minutes later and she's already telling the children watching that they should try to be friends with their bullies.
Now, I can't stress this enough, I'm saying this as a kid who used to be bullied in school, and is now a teacher and education grad student who's desperate about what kids internalize in the media they consume: No! That shit is outright irresponsible! Trying to befriend a bully is not gonna get them to treat you better! Because that's not how bullying works, it's not about being nice, it's about power and dominance! Why is it so wrong to teach children to demand mutual respect in their relationships? Why are they always telling children they should be responsible for the conditions of their own bullying, instead of teaching them to demand real action from the adults around them? It's like they want kids to continue to be abused and mistreated!

Weird idea. Zantetsuken but it's a slap band. (Or snap bracelet or slap wrap idk)
Like could you imagine after they absolutely destroy an opponent a big SLAP that sounds like thunder (yes I am exaggerating) is heard as they put back their weapon on their wrist.
Alsoooo. The visuals might be potentially cool and awesome

You theorize that Yakuto is descended from Acnologia because their dragon forms are the same.
I theorize Yakuto is descended from Acnologia because, besides the hair and eye colors, he’s a dead ringer for young anime flashback Acno / Doctor.
We are not the same.
(but they are)
#fairy tail#dead rock#acnologia#yakuto#hiro mashima#dead rock manga#dead rock yakuto#yakuto dead rock#dr yakuto#SEE!! EVEN THE INITIALS OF HIS SERIES!! *DR*! DOCTOR! IT’S A SIGN-#my post#my posts#also I say descended and not son because apparently there’s a chapter that includes what his dad looked like and was named#revenge must run in the family tho#as wrll as eyeliner - albeit on opposite ends of the eyes#Yakuto is nice and sweet like Doctor but also willing to oneshot a Dead Rock teacher like Acno would do#also running in the family is apparently a taste for high collars

Play for Today: Bavarian Night (BBC, 1981)
"These bloody middle class parents, ooh, they do get up my nose! You can work yourself blue in the face for them, go out of your way to accommodate them, but it's no use! They're just out to carve and criticise and try to make a fool out of you! Oh, I felt like - I'm ashamed to tell you what I felt like."
"Giving her a good hiding?"
"Yes, somebody should have done, I don't mind saying so! Oh, they make me sick! Always had their own way, always had the best of everything; she should have been brought up in our house, my dad would've had her sorted! I'm sorry, Estelle, this isn't like me, I know. Well, that's my evening spoilt for a start!"
"But what about the sausages?"
#play for today#bavarian night#1981#single play#andrew davies#jack gold#bob peck#sarah badel#malcolm terris#arwen holm#barrie rutter#gawn grainger#kristopher kum#allan surtees#christine hargreaves#noel collins#brian protheroe#jack chissick#karen craig#a comparatively rare original work from Davies‚ who already in 81 was known chiefly for his adaptations of the work of others#a comic piece about a teacher parent social evening which descends into predictable chaos what with the heavy consumption of alcohol and#the loudly decried lack of sausages. Davies' script is frequently very witty‚ sometimes very funny indeed‚ but in a rather grotesque way#you can tell there's little warmth in his writing for most of the characters on display here: the late great Peck is the ostensible lead‚ a#hypocritical intellectual who waxes lyrical about his love for his children but who really just mines them for material for his job as a#scriptwriter; Rutter's would be progressive young head teacher quickly reveals his reactionary‚ petty nature‚ while Grainger is positively#repulsive as a middle class fascist whose desire to teach the younger generation he despises a lesson in manners is tempered only by his#own cowardice. warmth is reserved only for Badel‚ as Peck's cheating wife who at least retains a streak of humanity and a willingness to#stand by her (mildly) socialist principles‚ and particularly for Kum as the sole parent actually interested in learning more about his#daughter's education and progress (and whose bemused response to the increasingly bacchanalian mood of the evening is often the funniest#thing here). a sharp satirical piece on the mores of 80s English suburbia and the petite bourgeoisie‚ and a genuinely funny play

Okay life, I got it
We're entering tough days again, I got it
But you didn't have to put my dad yelling at me three times, THREE fucking hours of math stuff, my dad ignoring me, my brother being despised by other fucking little kids and crying his heart out in front of me, my brother being hit by my dad for not doing his homework properly (he's 6 and doesn't know how to read yet, what the actual fuck else were you expecting from him? To do math basic operations already?), getting late to school, remembering my grandparents and just wishing to see them in my birthday and spend the whole fucking day playing cards (they live in another city, 12 hours to get there, my parents are not taking me), AND only seeing my mom 5 seconds (when she woke me up) in the whole fucking day in ONE. DAY.
YOU COULD'VE SPLIT IT IN THE OTHER DAYS OF THE WEEK??????
THIS DAY IS NOT FUCKING THE ONLY ONE
Don't you think my heart has standed enough pain in this last 5 years...?? It's starting to hurt, my tears are more and more hard to stop every time, and my whole happiness, my home, my real home, my hometown, the only place I was completely happy (... Okay not completely), and the place I wish I never left is 12 hours far from here. And I just want to be there...
#i want my mom...#i want my dance back#i want my grandparents#i want my cousins#i want my old life back...#i love my friends that i have now#i love my brother#i love my virtual friends#and i know i wouldn't be me without them#but i was happier being the cat crazy girl who lives in a bubble when i was 7#with that specific teacher#with my best friends having sleepovers and dancing to descendants on their houses#or cooking pancakes with them#yk?#vent post#lee#just a lee talking

I have inspiration for a fan video
Qimir/the stranger/the teacher are 👑
Mae is ♥️
Sol is 👠
Osha is 🗡️
Help 🤣
[Red]
I'm just a girl, arms open wide
Looking for kindness somewhere in your eyes
I'm looking for something I may never find
All I want is love
[Queen of Hearts]
What you want doesn't exist
Love ain't it
[Red]
You say love ain't it
It makes me weak, but how'd I know if I ain't felt it yet?
You say love ain't it
And I wish I could compete with all the grief that you've experienced
[Queen of Hearts]
Love ain't it
And nothing's as sweet as when you defeat all your enemies
I say love ain't it
And fear is more important if we're gonna rule for centuries, oh
[Plebs]
Could it really be her?
They're saying there's no one worse
No one's as mean, mean as the Queen, mean as the Queen
She's been gone for years, but now she's appeared
So hide under your beds, under your beds
[Queen of Hearts]
Alright, here we go
[Plebs and Queen of Hearts]
Be careful of what you do, be careful of what you say (that's right)
Or it'll be off with your head, off with your head (out of my way, pleebs)
Be careful where you go, don't make her upset
Or else, it'll be off with your head (bah, blah, blah, huh)
[Red and Queen of Hearts]
So, you knew her?
I saw through her
Cinderella and I were classmates (no way)
I spend way too much time in this place, so I had to escape (okay)
The people here might smile, but they're two-faced and too fake
Wait, you went to Auradon Prep?
Nope, wasn't even called that yet
[Chloe Charming and Cinderella]
Wow, that girl was super rude
What's her problem? What's her deal?
Some people act mean at first 'cause they're too afraid to feel
It's survival, it's protection, that's why roses grow their thorns
Come on, whose side are you on?
The only one worse than her is her mom
Look, hon', back in high school, a mean prank was played
And ever since that fateful day she was never quite the same, it's a shame
What happened? Is it okay to ask?
We came to celebrate the future, sweetie
Not dwell on the past
[Queen of Hearts]
Haha, stand aside, the Queen's arrived
Look at them, so innocent
Can't believe they let us in
Watch 'em pay the consequence for being so dang insolent
Can't you smell their cowardice? Soak it up, devour it
Treats are for the weak, let me show you what real power is
Quick, Red, you gotta follow along
One day, you'll be on the throne
Automatic, just how I planned it
[Red]
What about what I want?
[Queen of Hearts]
They're gon' fall like parachutes
They're gon' crawl to me on all fours
[Red]
What did they ever do to you?
[Queen of Hearts]
Red, what are you arguing for?
I don't speak politician, I'm a queen
Your submission's what I need
On your knees, kneel to me
Royalty, you should listen, or you'll wind up in a prison
You'll be living in a dungeon underground
[Queen of Hearts and plebs]
Love ain't it (love)
Let me show you what real true power is (ain't it)
It's when I say you only live (power) if I let you live (oh)
And you should take what I give when I'm giving it
And what I'm giving, love ain't it
Love ain't it (love), love ain't it (ain't)
Love ain't it, na-na-na
Love ain't it (love), love ain't it (ain't)
Love ain't it, oh, na-na (ooh, love ain't it)
[Queen of Hearts]
Look into the mirror, it's our destiny
Rule a million years with you right next to me
Swimming in their tears, won't they taste so sweet?
There's a new dawn in Auradon
I'm gonna take the crown and then put it on
I'm gonna take the crown and do what I want
You're gonna make me proud when you take that throne
[Queen of Hearts and plebs]
Love ain't it (love)
Let me show you what real true power is (ain't it)
It's when I say you only live (power) if I let you live (oh)
And you should take what I give when I'm giving it
And what I'm giving, love ain't it
[Queen of Hearts, Red and plebs]
Love ain't it (love), love ain't it (ain't)
Love ain't it, na-na-na
Love ain't it (love), love ain't it (ain't)
Love ain't it, oh, na-na (love ain't it)
[Queen of Hearts]
Love ain't, mmm
Love ain't it

Auradon Campus Gossip:
Audrey and Chad are very funny, but ADULTS??
I will be taking these teacher names and running, thank you very much. They’re my OCs now and I will not be stopped.
Horace the Librarian
The cool librarian. Probably the one who started Doug’s enduring idea that bow ties look cool and suave. His color scheme is blue and red, just so he stands out from the students a bit.
Auradon Prep definitely has two libraries, the regular working library, and the research library. Horace works in the research library, helping the older students with their junior and senior projects.
Horace is the best librarian to talk to if you’re struggling with college essays. He’s able to tease a personal statement out of even the most shy students, and he’ll make you feel good about yourself as he’s doing it. He genuinely believes that every single person has a story worth telling, so long as you can frame it the right way. After all, he’s just the son of a bookseller from a quiet village, and look at where he is now.
Judy the Guidance Counselor
Judy genuinely loves her job. She’s here for the guidance, but also for the gossip. She loves working with troublemaker students, because they’re the most fun to work with and she gets to actually help them out.
She tries very hard to be hip with the kids. Judy uses all the slang she’s heard from students, and is totally tubular and hip to the jive of the youth trends. She’s on-trend and bussin.
She wears exclusively pantsuits, because again, she’s young and cool and wears pants instead of skirts. She thinks this will keep her cool in the eyes of the students. Her favorite one is a brown courdroy suit with a matching floral scarf, very vintage Auroria-style.
Abigail the Biology Teacher
She specialized in marine biology in college! Her main research is actually on invasive fish populations in the reefs around Atlantica. She would love to get her hands on the reefs within the Isle of the Lost barrier, but she’s not sure how to balance such an important research topic with her teaching career.
She’s very invested in independent learning. Every year she has her freshmen do a research project on a native species that has personal significance to them, and she keeps a tracking sheet of what all her students choose each year.
An astrology gal to her core, Abigail will detail class to talk about her horoscope if you can time it right. The sophomore bio II class takes the most advantage of this. They’ve made a class theme song for Astrology Moments with Abigail.
Margaret the Philosophy Teacher
Margaret started her career as a castle chaplain, and only switched to teaching after her nieces started asking her more and more philosophical questions. Yes, she is the sort of teacher who will engage in a scholarly debate with a five year old. Her high school students are nothing compared to her sister’s toddlers.
Philosophy isn’t exactly a popular elective at Auradon Prep, so Margaret has a lot of time between classes where she engages in personal research. She’s currently writing a book about the afterlife, and she’s written several well-reviewed scholarly papers about the philosophical implications of children’s internal narratives.
She also acts as a dorm monitor for the junior and senior girl’s dorms. She hosts the best late-night study events, and most of her students genuinely like her as a dorm monitor, even though part of her job is patrolling the halls during lights-out and breaking up their illegal room parties.

well everyone now that sparkstember is over i can now devote my energy to being insane in other still sparks-related ways
#planning my next projects#on the one hand glad to not have to get a whole video done in the span of like 2 hours every day#on the other hand it was a fun creative challenge that gave me a sense of purpose. it was fun#but i need to keep myself busy as we descend into winter and ✨seasonal depression✨#if i dont get it done today over the next couple days im going to make something silly for goofball's upcoming birthday#and then once that's done i dont know. i want to get back to work on my screenplay and try to FINISH IT!! but idk how long that'll take#i also have to finally finish watching that film course i bought oops. maybe ill start it over#and then?????????#i have a vague Idea of a possible short film i could make. that would also be like a kind of prequel to my Main Film Idea#and its something i could actually reasonably do as a short film and its not like insanely big budget like every other idea i have is#and I'm debating abt emailing my old film teacher and being like heyyyyy maybe you could help me make this short film????#but id want to have this idea way more planned out and written before then. but OUGH WRITING ANOTHER SCREENPLAY???#WHEN I HAVEN'T EVEN FINISHED MY FIRST ONE??? sigh.#the road to making my Big Great Movie is long and arduous. will we get there. who knows#oh also debating abt writing a letter to those silly guys. but i don't knowwwww#OH lmao i keep forgetting to mention i finally got my passport (it actually came earlier than expected)#so like. goodbye everyone im heading to the sydney opera house on halloween (JOKE i am not that insane. but i wish i could)
